Introduction

engagement. We expect all students to behave in a manner that upholds these values and
contributes to a positive campus environment. This code of conduct outlines the expectations f
student behavior, the consequences of violating these expectations, and the procedures for
addressing violations. This code of conduct is designed to create a safe, inclusive, and respectful
environment for all students, faculty, and staff. As a student attending this university, you are
expected to abide by this code of conduct at all times.
General Expectations
✔ Students are expected to behave in a responsible, respectful, and courteous manner at all
times.
✔ Students are expected to take responsibility for their own learning and academic progress.
✔ Students are expected to abide by all university policies and procedures.
✔ Students are expected to maintain academic integrity and honesty in all academic work.
✔ Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes, labs, and tutorials unless they have
a legitimate excuse (such as illness or family emergency).
✔ Students are expected to arrive on time to all classes and to participate actively in class
activities and discussions.
✔ Students are expected to respect the rights and opinions of their classmates and
instructors
✔ Students are expected to respect all the university staff.
Academic Integrity
Students must uphold academic integrity by avoiding all forms of academic dishonesty,
including but not limited to plagiarism, cheating, and fabrication of data. Plagiarism is the use of
another person’s work without proper attribution. Cheating is the use of unauthorized materials
during an exam, quiz, or assignment. Fabrication of data is the creation or falsification of data.
Any violation of academic integrity may result in disciplinary action, up to and including
expulsion from the university.
Respectful Behavior
✔ Students must demonstrate respectful behavior towards all members of the university
community, including students, faculty, and staff
✔ Students must not engage in any form of harassment. Harassment includes but is not
limited to sexual harassment, racial harassment, verbal abuse , physical intimidation and
bullying
✔ Students must not engage in discriminatory behavior based on race, gender, sexual
orientation, religion, or any other characteristic protected by law
Alcohol and Drugs
Abaarso Tech University prohibits the use, possession, or sale of illegal drugs on campus. The
possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages is also prohibited. Any violations of this
policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including suspension or expulsion for students.
Safety and Security
Students must take reasonable precautions to ensure their safety and security while on campus.
This includes reporting any safety concerns or suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities.
Students must also comply with all safety regulations, including but not limited to fire safety
regulations and building evacuation procedures.
Responsible Use of Technology
Students must use university technology resources responsibly and ethically. This includes
avoiding any activities that may be considered illegal, such as hacking or piracy. Students must
also respect the privacy of others and refrain from any actions that may compromise the security
of university technology systems.
Campus Property
Students must respect university property and take responsibility for any damage or destruction
caused by their actions. This includes avoiding vandalism, theft, or any other actions that may
result in damage to university property.
Participation in University Activities
Students are encouraged to participate in university activities, including clubs, organizations, and
events. Participation in these activities is subject to the rules and regulations set forth by the
university.
Procedure
Reporting Violations
✔ All members of the university community have a responsibility to report any
violations of the student code of conduct to the appropriate university authority.
This includes faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
✔ Reports of violations may be made to any member of the university staff or
faculty, including the dean of students, the academic dean, or the president of the
university.
✔ All reports will be taken seriously and investigated promptly and impartially.
Students who make reports in good faith will not be subject to retaliation or
harassment.
Investigation
Upon receiving a report of a violation, the university discipline committee(concerned
faculty department, Department of Academic Affairs and QualityAssurance ) will
conduct a preliminary investigation to determine the nature and severity of the offense.
This investigation may include meeting with witnesses, reviewing evidence, and
interviewing the accused student.
Meeting
The student will be required to attend a meeting with a university discipline committee to
discuss the violation, review the evidence, and discuss potential disciplinary actions. If
the violation is deemed severe or the student disputes the violation, a formal disciplinary
hearing will be conducted.
Disciplinary Actions:
After being evaluated by the discipline committee, the accused student may face
disciplinary action, which could include a written warning, suspension for a specific
period of time, or permanent expulsion from the university. The severity of the offense
will be taken into consideration when determining the appropriate disciplinary action
